|
This exercise helps with flexion, control and implusion. Flexion - by working on a 20m circle and creating the correct bend throughout the horses body. Control - by asking for canter on the exit from leg yield will make the horse strike off correctly. Impulsion - by doing upward transitions the horse must go instantly on request. How to Ride the Exercise On a 20m circle in trot Slowly decrease the diameter of the circle, slowing the speed of trot as you do so. Open the inside rein to ask for bend. Once reaching a 10m circle keep the inside bend and push the horse out back to the track using the inside leg. (you should reach the track before travelling further than half the circumference of the 20m circle). When reaching the track ask for the canter and canter large around the school. When getting back to the end you circled in come back to trot and repeat the exercise.
