Craftwear will back your horse for you on your own premises giving you the opportunity to watch and learn throughout the process.

We can start your horse from accepting tack on the long lines or if you have already introduced tack we can start from the mounting stage. Our aim is to produce a safe riding horse capable of walk, trot and canter.

Schooling Horses

We can school you horse to improve flexibility and improve his way of going. We can also solve schooling problems such as bucking, rearing or stubbornness.

Loading Horses

If you have problems loading your horse or if you horse refuses to load we can work with a pressure halter to load him.

We will introduce the halter away from the trailer or lorry. Once the horse is responding to it we will take the horse to the trailer or lorry. When the horse is loading happily we will ask the owner / rider to load the horse and advise them on the techniques so that if the problem re occurs in the future the same process can be re applied. (your own trailer or lorry is required)

Prices

Backing Horses -

The length of time taken to back a horse depends on what level of training the horse is at when we start. Normally between 2 to 4 weeks. An initial visit will be made to assess the horse at which point we can give an idea of how long we will require. (However of course during training the time required may increase or decrease.)

A minimum of two members of staff are always used for backing horses. We generally work on a week is 6 one hour sessions.

£150.00 per week paid upfront on the first day of training.

Schooling Horses -

1/2 hour training (one staff) £12.00

1 hour training (one staff) £20.00

1/2 hour training (two staff) £21.00

1 hour training (two staff) £35.00

Loading Horses -

One session is usually required to load a horse. The length of which can vary from 1 hour to 2 1/2 hours.

To load a horse £50.00

As with other services if you are based out of our local area a fuel surcharge will be charged per visit at our standard rate.
